Operations Leader Job Description

We are excited to announce that we have a current opening for an Operations Leader. This will be hybrid position including roughly 20 hours driving per week and 20 hours of Operations Leader per week (exact hours and schedule TBD but assume it will be Saturday and Sunday as Ops Leader with two other driving days). The ideal candidate for this role will be an expert in the delivery process, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and highly reliable. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Morning Prep/Loadout

  • Arrive 90-120 minutes earlier than dispatch time
  • Ensure vans and drivers are available
  • Prepare cases/phones/keys for drivers
  • Hand out items to drivers
  • Conduct morning stand-up meeting
  • Manage/minimize extra drivers
  • Lead loadout process

During Day

  • Confirm that pre-trip DVCRs are complete
  • Address on road issues as they arise, including but not limited to:
    • Solving delivery problems and routing issues
    • Van problems
    • Emergency situations (e.g., injuries, illness, etc.)
  • Answer AMZL queries and explain how we are addressing them
  • Accepting and assigning flex/recycled routes as needed
  • Coaching on safety throughout the day as events occur
  • Ensure all routes are completed by effectively managing rescues
  • Schedule drivers in AMZL Scheduling tool for next two days
  • Review Work Summary Tool (WST) from previous day

RTS/End of Day

  • Debrief with drivers: ask about their day and any on road issues they encountered
  • Coach drivers on any quality or safety areas that need improvement; Provide feedback on things they did well
  • Confirm post-trip DVCRs are complete
  • Stow cases/phones/keys
  • Prep vans for overnight preventative maintenance
  • Make sure vans and drivers available for the next day
  • Log van issues & invoices for day (repair, tow, PM, etc.)
  • Complete end of day report
  • Lock up and clock out

Potentially Uncomfortable Aspects about the Job

  • Dealing with unhappy or frustrated drivers
  • Balancing saying “no” to people and accommodating them when possible, including an explanation for reasoning
  • Staying composed in the face of conflict and remaining professional while maintaining effective communication
  • Having direct conversations about performance and improvement areas

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of the Amazon flex app and the delivery process to ensure that DAs can successfully complete all deliveries
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle customer service issues calmly and professionally
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high stress and/or emergency situations  
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish meaningful relationships within Bringly and with Amazon to influence key outcomes 
  • High level of integrity and accountability
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Basic computer skills, namely Microsoft word, excel, and google sheets

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of six months experience as a Delivery Associate for Amazon  
  • Zero no-call, no-shows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience with Bringly
  • FICO over 800 for 90 % of weeks in the last six months
  • Overall grade of “Fantastic” on weekly scorecard for the last six months
  • Three or fewer callouts in the last six months
  • Zero at-fault accidents in the last year

Pay Range

$19.00 to $20.00 per hour, plus bonus opportunities

Pay will be based on experience and qualifications
